Open positions
The Meyer lab has immediate openings for postdoctoral fellows, international graduate students, and visiting scientists. We seek colleagues with backgrounds in immunology, computational biology, mathematics, or computer science (or related fields). Ideal candidates are resourceful and independent, ready to take the lead and drive their own research.
Interested candidates should send a CV and a cover letter describing past research accomplishments and future research interests to Dr. Hannah Meyer (hmeyer@cshl.edu).
Working in the Meyer lab
Our lab members come from across the globe and bring training from different cultural and scientific environments. We see that diversity of experience as essential to the diversity of ideas that fuels innovative research. We foster creative approaches in an inclusive environment that trains and supports people of all backgrounds and abilities.
Our mentorship is tailored to each person's needs and career goals, covering both day-to-day work in the Meyer lab and the longer arc of a scientific career. Open, respectful conversations about expectations between mentee and mentor are central to that process.
Beyond one-on-one mentoring (weekly meetings and an open-door policy), we maintain an active discussion culture through weekly group meetings, journal clubs, and a book club where everyone, including the PI, digs into new scientific methodology. We also run lab retreats and informal outings (escape rooms, bike rides, group dinners).
We share a common aim to do the best science we can and push the boundaries of biomedical research. In a supportive, diverse environment that removes barriers to access, we can achieve excellence together.
Working at CSHL
CSHL offers a warm, highly collaborative scientific environment. Its Meetings and Courses program also connects researchers across the full spectrum of biological sciences (see postdoc resources for details).
CSHL provides competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental insurance and access to an affordable, licensed on-site childcare center.
Surroundings
CSHL sits on the north shore of Long Island and is readily accessible from New York City via the Long Island Rail Road. Manhattan is under an hour away.
Beyond the lab, CSHL hosts concerts and lecture programs, and members have access to campus beaches and outdoor activities including beach volleyball, canoeing, ultimate frisbee, soccer, allotments, and more.
